FOREWORD

The organizing committee would like to encourage pianists in Western Australia to take part in this competition.

This competition is an annual event and the aims are:

1)                   To encourage pianists of all ages to perform in a concert situation
2)                   To improve the standards of piano playing in WA through friendly competition
3)                   To provide the opportunity for each individual to be assessed on their performance by qualified adjudicator(s)
4)                   To bring people together for the purpose of music making, enjoyment and entertainment.
5)         For students to have a formal pre-examination performance practice

We have seen a steady growth in the increase of competitors in our competition yearly and also the high standards witnessed in the competition every year.  Thanks to our sponsors we have increased prize monies again this year.  The first prize for the Piano Solo Grades Recital Open section is $1000.  We also have some new sections in the Piano Solo Age Group Recital sections to create more variety in this year’s competition.  The committee also urges you to take note of some changes to the rules and regulations.

There will be a piano masterclass session with our adjudicator, Professor Sylvia Wang from the Northwestern University in the USA.  There are limited vacancies.  For more information please call  0413929475 or 93755849.

May all pianists enjoy your performances!

Best Regards,

Yoon Sen Lee
